After a very brief time on sets in film production, I found my niche in Hollywood story development. Screenwriting and analyzing hundreds of books and screenplays for creative merit, helped me hone the craft of storytelling, increase my typing speed to 90 wpm, and make me slightly near sighted.
Every company was looking for warm bodies at the time, but more importantly, they gave people the chance to wear many hats if they were able (and sometimes even if they weren't able) to pick up the new digital skill set. I taught myself both programming and design to take advantage of the opportunities, and was excited by the prospect of being able to create and publish work in hours rather than the decades it would often take stories to make their way on to the silver screen.
As the Internet evolved, it made more sense to specialize rather than to continue as a jack-of-all-trades in the changing digital wild west.
While I still have very technical interests even to this day, my overwhelming passion is creative. I love to concept, create, and tell stories while drawing on all the narrative skills and technical expertise I have picked up over the years. As I matured in my craft, I grew into a mentor and manager to like-minded creatives. There are few things more rewarding than building individuals into a team and watching that collaboration yield dynamic creative work.
